So Eric thought he'd sold his contract to his old apartment. Well, let's just say that the guy he "sold" it to has evaded signing a contract with the complex, hasn't paid any rent and is currently getting evicted.
Guess who this hurts? Not the other guy (although he might get prosecuted for trespassing). No, if he doesn't pay Bountiful Court what he owes them, we have to pay them everything since Eric was the last one to sign a contract with them. Great, huh?
I just don't understand how people can consciously choose to cheat people like this. I just don't. And the law can't protect us, because there was no contract signed.
I am trying to stay calm.

My Turn
Goals:
Enjoy my career more than the average Joe.
Be a really good father/husband
Make people happy through association
Joys:
Cindy
Most kids
Making excellent food
Fears:
Losing sight/speech
Abandoned buildings at night
I have thoughts of Vertigo randomly (i.e. I think that I'm falling off the world...scary huh?)
Obsessions:
I like to look at computers and software/games
Cleanliness
Giving most people the benefit of the doubt
Surprises:
I won an XBOX 360 with RockBand when I went to an entrepreneur lecture series
I am amazingly good at Smash Bros on any console.
I speak Russian with an OPI government rating of Strong Superior (that's pretty good)

Tag!
My big sisters have both done this, so I figure I can follow their examples :o) As the saying goes, I've been tagged -- and now so have you. But only do it if you want to. Compulsory obedience is no fun.
Answer these 15 questions on your blog. List: 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 goals, 3 current obsessions/collections, 3 random surprising facts. Here are my answers:
Joys:
1. Making Eric genuinely laugh
2. Reading a good book and not worrying about what I should be doing instead
3. Talking about things I'm passionate about (there are lots -- you might not want to get me started!)
Fears:
1. Confrontations (sorry, Amy, not trying to copy you on this. It's just true.)
2. Not living up to expectations
3. Dark basements
2. Get better at time management
3. Gain patience with myself
Obsessions:
1. Punctuation
2. Homework -- although a procrastinated obsession often, which makes it more anxiety than anything
3. Eating good food :o)
Random/Surprising Facts:
1. I'm really very shy when left to my own devices
2. I used to want to become a political analyst for some big network
3. I'll copy Amy on this one, too -- I was an extra in the "Mormon" Pride and Prejudice (you know, the really poorly-produced film that is filled with dumb things like a pink bible).

"The future of technology is wack!(as in dope or cool)" -Gabe
So, much to my embarrassment, my hopes of being visionary were quite lacking in vision. Bruce is right about the future of technology, because he is the future.
With that in mind, I have decided to change what I want out of a computer. Here it is:
-not noticeable (like what Bruce said)
-holographic everything with some sort of sound field around it, so people don't overhear my games/phone calls. Also, I want the hologram to be similar to one-way glass, so that I can see it, but everyone else can't.
-self-charging power source that never runs out
IBM will probably make it first.
That's it for now. I admit that I was wrong about Dell and Alienware. I was on a big niche buff the other day and wanted them to become dominant.
That's about it.
In other news,
I think that computers will become a hobby for me as I move into the business world. I already read about them often, now I want to understand them better. Not like a CS major, but like a well-educated consumer.
I love my wife. Life is good, but weeks go by more quickly than before.
I am trying to find Marketing enjoyable.
I like Team Fortress 2. I bought it with a SteamPowered account. I am a fan of the mechanic, healer, and pyro classes.
I like playing tennis a lot.

Yum!
Since I'm married, it is only fitting that I am going to start blogging about recipes :o)
First off, I need to recommend this site for finding yummy recipes. The best thing about it (besides the fact that I've liked every recipe I've gotten from them) is that you can change the number of servings you want to make and it adjusts the ingredients list for you. Try it out. It's amazing.
Second, I thought I'd mention a fun spin-off on an old family favorite -- chicken rolls. Eric got creative yesterday because we had some leftover curry sauce.
2 grilled chicken breasts, cubed
3/4 package cream cheese
1/4 can diced tomatoes
1 green onion, chopped
1 package unbaked crescent rolls
Dried cranberries
Grill chicken and cut into small squares. Mix cream cheese, tomatoes and green onion and chicken. Roll mixture in unbaked crescent rolls; bake as directed on roll packaging or until golden brown.
Top with curry sauce and dried cranberries. Eat it. It's yummy!
Curry Sauce
1/2 can cream of chicken soup or cream of mushroom soup
1 dollop mayonnaise or miracle whip
1 teaspoon curry powder (add to taste)
Heat for 2 minutes in microwave on high; stir, repeat.

Mormon Temple
So I'm in a class called Public Relations Writing and Production, a practical course in public relations. We each find a non-profit organization in the area and produce PR materials for them, such as a news release, brochure, newsletter, etc. I'm working for The Gathering Place, an addiction treatment center in Orem that deals with drug, alcohol and sex addiction (hence my research about substance abuse and heroin addiction mentioned in my last post).
Anyways, I bring it up because one of my classmates is working for an organization -- the name escapes me at the moment -- that works to encourage the LDS community to have a greater presence on the Internet. He was talking about it the other day and brought up how there are certain things you can search online that relate to Mormonism and only negative things come up in the results. I decided to check it out and was saddened to find it was true.
So today, I want to talk about my marriage in a Mormon temple.
My husband and I had a pretty typical wedding day in some ways; I stressed over flowers, my dress and having to buy my father a new suit at the last minute. Eric was ready in less than an hour and all he had left to worry about was the whole "Wow, I'm going to be married" thing.
In the midst of all this, however, we had a sanctuary from any worries. We entered a holy place and covenanted with God and each other that we would work together to make our marriage eternal. I can be with the man I love for more than just this life -- we can have eternity together!
I have no reservations about telling people about my faith. No one would truly know me if they were unfamiliar with my beliefs and practices, because my membership in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is everything to me and I find great joy and freedom in living the way I have learned from a life of faith and dedication.

Married people stuff
Today I'm posting my first post on our new combined blog, I See Badgers. Eric is off playing tennis and I'm supposed to be writing PSAs for my COMMS 421 client, but in search of a break from studying statistics and studies about substance abuse in Utah County, I came here.
Since we've been married we've had a busy life, but I found time to get my hair chopped off the other day! They took off about 10" for Locks of Love, a charity foundation that makes wigs for little kids with health conditions that make them lose their hair. After that they took about another inch or so. My hair is shorter than it's been in about 13 years! I like it, though, and Eric's given his approval too.
Here's a picture with my new haircut. This was taken by my sister Katy up in Layton on the 4th of July. We went up there and spent time with her and the twins for most of the day. Good times for the 4th! Then we headed out to Grantsville for their fireworks show, which was a lot of fun. It was more fun, though, to see how excited Corbin was to do their own fireworks in their driveway after.
Married life is great. Now back to studying heroin addiction.
