Motherhood in the digital age

Motherhood in the digital age has its pros and cons, just like everything. But sometimes I wish I could just turn it all off. Pinterest makes me painfully aware of how lazy I am, how demotivated I am to craft in any way, and how I don't play with my child enough and do enough science experiments with him. Facebook provides lots of opportunities for me to be reminded that my children aren't as brilliant/easy/perfect as everyone else's. (NO, my baby does NOT sleep through the night, so glad your two-week-old is). Blogs remind me that I don't dress my daughter in outfits or bows, I don't take enough pictures, and I need to buy Photoshop and Lightbox so I can have perfect pictures edited beautifully.

You may have guessed it: Today was a long, tiring day, one of those mothering days that you don't mention to the glowing pregnant first-time mother.

The redeeming factors have been baby grins and a totally spontaneous hug and "I love you" from my usually less-than-affectionate toddler.

So there, technology. I am doing ok.

I'm not convinced any of those people are as perfect as they want us to think.

No one, no matter how much they want to dress them up, has children smarter, more talented, or more adorable than my grandchildren!!!
