I built these with the help of my friend, Will, and I think that they turned out wonderfully. He let me use his excellent tools and he helped get everything started. I wanted to build 4 to go from wall to wall, but they are just 1/2" too long. I decided that one looks great as a media center and the 3 on the wall allow for lamps to be in the corners. Now I don't need to build a media center :)
We plan on painting these white. I am also building a coffee table, but that will have to wait until next week. I'll be sure to post pictures of the finished products.
Enjoy!

I know that we haven't put any pictures up of our place, but here you get to see that our family room is painted a dark blue/gray that goes well with our light blue/gray carpet. We haven't gotten around to putting up pictures, but we will soon. The bookshelves were made using MDF and Pine from Home Depot. These 5 pieces of furniture (4 bookshelves and 1 coffee table) cost me a total of $150.05 and 1 day's work. This includes brad nails for the nail gun and 2 boxes of screws. The screws will be used on the coffee table. It would have cost me a little more, but Will donated a couple of junk boards that he had. We put them through his wood planer and they came out like new. Thanks Will!

1 is being used as a media center. I think that it works well. After the holes are filled in and everything is sanded and painted, I am planning some serious cable management so that it doesn't look so bad.

And a view from the side.
I have to give credit for the plans to Ana from
knockoffwood.blogspot.com. She saved me a bundle in time and energy. I suggest you all go look at her blog for build ideas. I will be building a few more things this summer, so I'll post them when the projects are completed.
