Hmm

So Eric's post made me think back to a time when I filled out a survey about media consumption a few years ago. It asked if I watched TV online or on a television. I thought this was a silly question -- who would watch more TV on a computer than an actual TV set?

Well, now Eric and I have a TV, we have cable access, but we still haven't bought a hook-up for the cable and any TV we watch is online. Strange how broadband Internet access has changed my outlook.

I'm hoping that in 4 or 5 years we will have a nice wall-mounted tv that has a computer connected to it for all of our veiwing pleasure.

Seriously! Eric, that's fine. We can have a TV hooked up in 5 years ;o)

It's so interesting that so many men have this one aspiration of having a flat screen TV, about a bazillion inches wide that mounts to their wall. I'd actually consider letting Richard do something like that as a Christmas present sometime in the next couple of years, but the problem is I don't know when I'll be willing to pay a cable/satellite bill again, and what's the point of the nice TV w/out the decent channels to go with it?

It's true. And all we'll have is campus cable, which, nice in its own way, is missing many good channels.

Yes, BYU cable... not so great. David was always most upset that they didn't have MTV. Though I wouldn't care anymore, since they stopped playing music. But back when we were in college they still did.

You tw are missing one very important point:

You can connect a computer to the tv to watch the channels not provided by your basic cable or lack thereof :)....Yeeeeaaahhh. good stuff.
