Where's our next Plymouth Rock?

I came across this the other day when I should have been doing homework. I won't interpret it for you; I just think it's a good thought.

"If people are not permitted to advocate, to assert, and to bring to bear, in every legitimate way, the opinions and views they hold that grow out of their religious convictions, what manner of men and women would they be, anyway? Our founding fathers did not wish to have a state church established nor to have a particular religion favored by government. They wanted religion to be free to make its own way. But neither did they intend to have irreligion made into a favored state church. Notice the terrible irony if this trend were to continue. When the secular church goes after its heretics, where are the sanctuaries? To what landfalls and Plymouth Rocks can future pilgrims go?"

From Neal A. Maxwell's devotional address "Meeting the Challenges of Today" given at BYU in 1978.

Don't forget to check out the Blue Gold post! I kinda added a couple of posts, but that post does the most good.

What's all the confusion between babies and ninjas all about?

So, I took a moment to make a baby with the help of the VW RoutanBabymaker3000. This is what my future child may look like.

not too shabby eh? Don't worry, we are not pregnant. This was just to jump on the baby train and show off a depiction of my child. For the record, if this is my child, he will need a hair cut, cuz I don't do the long bang thing. Have a great day family and friends. I hope that you enjoyed this post.

Blue Gold

The other day on BBC News I read an article about water shortages throughout the world. The shortages are just expected to increase and spread, which is a scary thought. Besides droughts in Utah (which means they tell us to wash our cars on our lawns, water our lawns before the sun comes up, and "be careful" in our water consumption), I have never really worried about using water. I'm trying to make myself more aware of what the situation is for people in the third world and perhaps soon I will become more conscious of how much water I consume.

What I'm really excited about is World Water Week. I'm helping volunteer for the Tap Project, a UNICEF project that raises money to buy water for children in areas where they have no access to clean water.

Here's how it works: You go to a restaurant, and if you're like me (cheap, in other words), you order the glass of water because it's free. Well, during World Water Week (March 22-28), at participating restaurants you can pay just $1 for your glass of water. This $1 donation provides a child clean drinking water for 40 days!

It's something so small that makes such a huge difference. Every day, 4,200 children die of water-related diseases. Your $1 donation will save a life. As World Water Week approaches, pay attention to which restaurants are participating in your area and give them your business--they're doing something great.

K, done with my sales pitch :)

Eric's secret hobby

So sometimes when I am bored I google people's names. Today I did an image search for Eric Badger and discovered this picture. It says that Eric is the first guy on the left. I'm still learning so much about my new husband...
